Senior costs judge Master Hurst will hear a series of test cases on 29-30 October in a bid to end the confusion over conditional fee agreements (CFAs) following the English v Clipson verdict.

The district court's decision in English v Clipson meant insurance companies were unable to agree to pay claimants' solicitors' costs following the successful conclusion of personal injury claims.

At least 250,000 claimants are believed to be waiting on a definitive judgment.
