St. Paul Travelers has opened a new office in Leeds.
The company said it is also currently considering opening new offices in other major insurance centres where there is a clear need to strengthen broker relationships and take advantage of new business opportunities as they arise.
Mike Bridge, assistant general manager – sales & distribution, said: "This is a crucial time in the development of our company. The current competitive market conditions mean that a successful insurer must continually add value to its business proposition. Part of that strategy is to ensure we provide exemplary service to our supporting brokers and that means putting more people into more places.
‘We've already recruited three new people to the operation and they'll be supported by existing home-based colleagues in the region. We're looking for more underwriting and development people and expect a lot of interest in the Leeds market.'
The Leeds office is headed up by Carl Bickerdike for underwriting and both John Simms and Andy Corner for development.
Bridge added: "In response to broker demand and our own ambitions for growth, we are also targeting general commercial sectors including manufacturing industry, large retail, hotel and leisure groups, property owners and warehousing, to name but a few."
