Martin South has been named as Marsh's new UK chief executive.
South has returned to Marsh after a ten-year stint at Zurich, where he was chief executive of international businesses.
In the new role of UK chief executive as part of Marsh's restructured operations, South will report to Alex Moczarski, CEO of Marsh, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Brian Storms, chairman and chief executive of Marsh Incorporated, commented: “Martin's decision to rejoin Marsh is yet further proof of our ability to attract the top talent in our industry. Coupled with his strong operational experience, his impressive track record of driving profitable growth and business development at the highest levels are exactly the kind of attributes that will ensure we achieve our ambitious growth targets.”
Moczarski said: “Martin joins at an exciting time for Marsh. As we capitalise on the expertise we can offer in both our broking and risk advisory services, his strong client-focused background and leadership experience make him an excellent addition to our management team in the region.”
South said: “Shareholders are demanding that companies put managing risk at the centre of their agenda. Independent insight-led advice will continue to be at a premium. I am very much looking forward to returning to Marsh at a time when there is among companies a large and increasing appetite to understand and manage risk and make the most of the opportunities available to them. As well as working hard to cement Marsh's position as the world's pre-eminent broker, I see it as crucial to build on the strong growth in the risk consulting business, where Marsh already holds the leading position.”
