Sirius has announced that AXA has gone live with its Stargate online commercial initiative.

Announcing the launch, Sirius claimed Stargate is the first programme to provide end-to-end connectivity, which it says streamlines commercial lines activity.

Sirius also claimed that its Venture Plus product cuts costs by eliminating the need to rekey data.

Mike Dodd, UK systems chief executive, said: "According to research amongst Sirius users, around one in two insurance documents passing between broker and insurer contains errors, with one third of them taking more than three months to reach the client.

"So not only will this resolve the problem of repeated errors, but it will completely speed up the process as brokers will be able to print the accurate documentation within a matter of minutes."

Dodd indicated that several leading insurers will follow AXA into the initiative. He revealed that Zurich is set to sign up in early 2003 and that it was in advanced talks with other UK commercial insurers.

The first business has recently been placed on the system by broker JW Group.
