No action taken against Madoff company or directors
Madoff Securities International, the UK arm of convicted Ponzi-schemer Bernard Madoff's investment scheme, has been cleared by the SFO in its investigation into the company and its directors.
The SFO said that following a thorough review of all the available evidence, there was "insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction".
It is therefore taking no action against either the company or its directors.
However the the SFO added that it "will continue to provide assistance to international partners in law enforcement on aspects of the continuing worldwide investigation and is continuing its own enquiries into wider aspects of the fraud which may give rise to offending in the UK."
