Al Robertson joins H&R insurance
Aberdeen-based H&R Insurance has appointed Al Robertson as commercial insurance advisor.
Robertson previously worked for Giles Insurance Brokers in Aberdeen and is the sixth new appointment for H&R Insurance in 2009.
Shona Robertson, partner at H&R Insurance said: “Al’s appointment is in direct response to significant growth in a number of our business segments. The business experienced a 16% growth in 2008, and the upward trend has continued with a 7% growth rate achieved in the first quarter of 2009. In the last 18 months we have taken on 26 insurance professionals and we fully expect this recruitment drive to continue throughout the remainder of the year.”
Robertson's focus as commercial insurance advisor will be in developing the insurance service provider’s commercial clients, specialising in haulage contractors, motor traders and fleet policies.
Robertson joined The Burley Group in 2004 as business development manager to spearhead acquisition of insurance clients, predominately within the haulage industry. He built up a client base from standing start to a GWP of £2.5m for the Aberdeen branch during his time there.
Robertson added: “The knowledge Al brings with him will be invaluable to the team. He is highly regarded for his work, particularly in the haulage industry. The experience that he has gained in relationship management specifically over the past 14 years will allow him to make an immediate positive impact.
“We look forward to welcoming him at a very interesting time for the business. H&R Insurance is currently one of the strongest-performing independent brokers in Scotland which aims to have an insurance premium turnover in excess of £20m in two years. We want Al to play a key role in making our business objectives become a reality.”
