Catlin replaces QBE as capacity provider for the insurer
Catlin has replaced QBE as the capacity provider for Rural Insurance’s re-launched farm combined insurance.
Rural, part of the UK General Group, has re-designed the policy to include enhanced cover and limits to help extend coverage for hobby farmers to larger and more complex farms.
The policy now includes environmental impairment liability (EIL) as standard with public liability, providing cover of up to £1m in the event of a farmer becoming liable to pay under environment damage regulations should their activities cause any pollution.
Rural Insurance managing director Ian Barclay said: “We’ve listened carefully to our trading partners, claims provider, reviewed the competition and have worked with Catlin Insurance Company (UK) Ltd to create a new-look agricultural insurance policy that meets the demands of today’s farming community.
“This has included a fundamental review and re-drafting of our policy wording and the inclusion of a critical area of cover – EIL. This is the realisation of the promise we made to the market to invest in focusing our products and services around the needs of our trading partners and their customers and is part of our ambition to become the number two rural insurance provider in the market.”
Rural has said that ratings for the policy will remain largely unchanged, with only a slight increase for public liability cover as a result of the inclusion of EIL.
The insurer has also simplified the documentation and processes for the policy to help reduce the workload for trading partners and improve the customer journey.
