RSA UK personal lines managing director Mark Christer is leaving the company after five years in the role.
David Coughlan, RSA’s group underwriting director, will replace Christer on 1 May. He will report to UK chief executive Steve Lewis.
Coughlan joined RSA in 2008 as group motor portfolio director.
Lewis said: “I am delighted to appoint David to this role. He combines extensive industry knowledge gained across a range of pricing, claims and underwriting roles with a strong track record in personal lines and in delivering operational change programmes.
“With his industry expertise and experience I am confident that David will continue to drive the business forward and deliver excellent service and value to our customers and partners.”
He added: “I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Mark for the significant contribution he has made to RSA and particularly our personal lines business.
“He has played a key role in the creation of a number of new product lines such as pet and telematics and in significantly growing our affinity partnerships Nationwide, M&S and John Lewis. He leaves with our thanks and best wishes.”
Coughlan said: “I am really excited to take on this new role. Within our UK personal lines business we have a leading direct brand in More Than, a growing high net worth business and highly successful affinity and intermediated businesses. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the team to continue to develop our brands, products and services.”
