New Motability and specialty lines directors

RSA has named new directors for its Motability and UK specialty lines businesses.

Rob Gibbs has been appointed Motability director, filling the role vacated by Paul Hirst, who became RSA’s mid-market director in April.

The scheme insures adapted cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs leased using the government’s mobility allowance.

Gibbs was previously regions south director and will be replaced by Alan Scott, currently head of regions ProFin. He will report to UK commercial managing director Jon Hancock.

Meanwhile Gareth Hilton has been appointed to the new role of specialty lines director. He will lead RSA’s UK ProFin, construction engineering and renewable energy business, reporting to global specialty lines director Paul Greensmith. His current role as north west regional manager will be filled by north director Lee Mooney.

Hancock said: “It is an exciting time for commercial as the business continues to evolve, and having our top talent in key roles will be invaluable. These appointments are testament to our robust succession planning and I’m pleased to be able to fill these critical roles with strong internal people. I look forward to working closely with them.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
