Europ Assistance said new research has revealed that customers increasingly value the human element of personal advice and assistance, especially when faced with a loss or emergency situation.

The company said the analysis it undertook of major social trends in Europe, has has led to a strategic review of its four core disciplines of Travel, Motor, Home & Family and Health.

Rob Upton, sales and marketing director, Europ Assistance, said: “Financial indemnity is often a secondary consideration in these circumstances, when reassurance, information and help are of primary concern to customers.

"We believe we shall see a continued transition away from a pure insurance model towards a lifestyle assistance solution, in which traditional insurance is combined with an increasing range of personal assistance services. This is not a completely new concept although we believe consumer expectations regarding the extent and quality of these assistance services will increase. The key to our future success is to anticipate and satisfy these expectations.”

In response to the review, Europ Assistance has strengthened its business management team, with recent additions including Emmanuelle Lavenac previously with International SOS, Jason Sparrow from the RAC, and Martin Dexter from General Legal Protection.

In addition, Martyn Armitage has joined as marketing communications manager and Gareth Barrett as head of product development, both previously with Mondial Assistance.

Upton added: “The new team faces an exciting and challenging time as Europ Assistance moves into its next phase of growth. We have invested heavily in market research at both a UK and European level and are now in the process of redefining and redeveloping our product offerings based on some very interesting findings."
