US insurance regulators to question Fitch, S&P and Moody’s
US state insurance regulators group The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) will question the role of rating agencies at a hearing on 24 September, Reuters reports.
The three major rating agencies -- Fitch, Standard & Poor's and Moody's -- have been criticised for rating risky assets too highly in the run-up to the global financial crisis.
The NAIC is considering launching its own system for assigning ratings.
