Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) will roll out six further “open door” underwriting sites across the UK following the success of its site in Leeds.
The insurer is set to open market sites in Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Croydon, Bristol and Liverpool.
The market sites enable brokers to deal face-to-face with underwriters.
Paul Donaldson, R&SA’s managing director of the broking division, told Insurance Times: “We are laying down the pipe. They will be up and running very soon.”
R&SA opened its first market site in Leeds earlier this year (News, 7 June). It claimed the office was revolutionary in that brokers could walk off the street and speak to an underwriter.
The Leeds site contained 14 underwriters, enabling quicker decisions on business.
At the time the insurer said it would seek broker feedback before deciding whether to open similar sites around the country.
