Insurer Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has announced it intends to cancel a number of non-broker agencies to concentrate its efforts on the service it provides to larger brokers.

R&SA UK Commercial categorises non-broker agencies as "small agents", those with less than £5,000 gross premium income with R&SA.

The servicing of small agents is to be transferred to R&SA's business insurance direct division.

R&SA said it would explain the changes by issuing letters to all the agents involved by the end of November. Meanwhile, the insurer has extended its small business service for brokers, Enter-prise, into Northern Ireland in response to demand.

According to R&SA UK Commercial, the Belfast centre which opened on

1 November, is "a natural step forward for Enterprise" and follows the launch of centres throughout the remainder of the UK during 2000.

The centres were part of an ongoing strategy to make life easier for its brokers and customers, R&SA UK Commercial said.
