Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has appointed John Napier as chairman designate and Andy Haste as group chief executive.
Napier, who is also chairman of Kelda Group, will succeed Sir Patrick Gillam as chairman in March.
Haste, currently chief executive of AXA Sun Life and executive director of AXA UK, will take over in April 2003.
Gillam said: "I'm confident that John and Andy will provide the leadership and drive to ensure that we improve our performance and deliver better results."
Acting group chief executive Bob Gunn will retire in 2003 after completing the handover.
Haste was previously president and chief executive of global consumer finance Europe at GE Capital.
Napier has worked across a number of industries, including newspapers, market research and business services.
