New office is division’s second regional outpost following Manchester opening last year
Randall & Quilter (R&Q)’s managing general agency (MGA) division has opened its second UK regional office in Birmingham.
This follows the opening of its Manchester office last year.
R&Q said the new opening demonstrates R&Q MGA’s commitment to the regional broker market.
The new Birmingham office will initially form part of the R&Q Commercial Risk Services (‘R&Q CRS’) team, under the leadership of James Wheddon.
The office will be able to offer the entire range of R&Q MGA products to local brokers.
R&Q CRS underwrites UK property and liability coverage across the commercial sector, specialising in commercial combined property owners, contracting and package business.
The new office is based in the Snow Hill area of Birmingham and will initially be staffed by local underwriting specialists, Paul Woodcock and Phil Woodward.
R&Q MGA chief executive Nicholas Hales said: “The opening of a new office in Birmingham is another exciting strategic development for the business, not only is it a demonstration of the group’s commitment to develop a leading MGA platform, but also establishes a well located regional hub for R&Q group.
“We are always on the lookout for quality teams, both in the UK and overseas, and are pleased to welcome Paul and Phil.
“They both join us with a wealth of experience developed across various positions that they have held within the regional broker and composite insurer community. We look forward to developing this office in conjunction with them.”
