Quinn-direct has launched an attack on Marsh, Willis and Aon claiming that they have a policy of not recommending its products to clients.

The Irish insurer, which specialises in construction insurance, has launched an advertising campaign in the Republic of Ireland naming the three brokers that it alleges do not use its products, or even quote its prices to clients.

A spokesman for Quinn-direct said: "It's a cosy club and we're trying to shake it up.

"The bottom line is that these international brokers should be providing their clients with a range of the best available quotes in the market. But, by excluding Quinn-direct, they're obviously not doing this."

Quinn's commercial director, Trevor Shaw, said its campaign could be repeated in the UK.

Neither Willis nor Aon would comment, but a spokeswoman for Marsh said: "Marsh sources quotes from insurers based in Ireland and abroad who satisfy our minimum security rating requirements. Quinn-direct Insurance does not hold a security rating. Consequently, Marsh Ireland does not place business with it."

Quinn-direct said its business insurance premiums last year were in excess of €125m and had increased from €10m in 2001.

The company argued that it should be entitled on the strength of its size in the market to have its products quoted by the biggest brokers in the Irish market.
