Former CII president will replace Alec Finch next week
Chris Hanks is set to join Jelf’s network Purple Partnership from next week as a non-executive chairman.
In a role that will be more advisory and governance, Hanks will support the management team as they plan to grow the business.
Hanks said that for brokers to thrive in the current market, and meet the present and future challenges of regulation, competition and a hardening market, they need to be a member of a club.
Hanks added: “A network offering is an outstanding way for brokers to meet the challenges of the market.
“I do think brokers need a strong vibrant network offering that adds value to them and their customers.
“But they have to prove that value and Purple are at a place where they are improving that value.
“Purple looks after a number of good brokers and I am delighted to be joining them.”
The former general manager of Allianz Commercial and president of the Chartered Insurance Institute brings more than 45 years of experience to the role, having started his career as an underwriter in 1968.
And he replaces Alec Finch who announced last week that he was stepping down as chairman.
Purple’s managing director Les Brewin said: “We’re thrilled to have such a hugely respected figure as Chris taking the Chair and I’m certain his experience, influence and gravitas will be a great help as we continue to drive Purple onwards and upwards.”
