John Powell has joined Welsh broker ProtectaGroup as commercial insurance director.
Powell was previously with Culver Insurance Brokers for 14 years as chief executive.
In his new role, he will focus on doubling ProtectaGroup's premium growth to £10m by next year via both SMEs and large corporates.
Powell commented: “I am looking forward to a new challenge in building ProtectaGroup's commercial insurance division into an industry leader. We are aiming for a 100 per cent growth rate on year for the commercial division of the business, increasing the percentage of commercial insurance handled within the group from 10 per cent to 30 per cent over the next three years.
“The management team at ProtectaGroup is dynamic, focused and highly enthusiastic and they have done a commendable job in bringing the company as far as they have in a relatively short space of time.
“I hope to support this success as we branch out into other dimensions of insurance, appealing to a broader range of clients, not only in Wales but across the UK. We have actually already signed up a new multi-national client and we also have plans to work with whole professional sectors, such as solicitors.
“I'd like ProtectaGroup to be the largest commercial broker in Wales and I'm confident we can do that.”
