Who would have thought there would be a queue to join the board of Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA)? According to reports, hotel giant Six Continents' chairman Sir Ian Prosser is being lined up to replace R&SA's incumbent Sir Patrick Gillam.
Gillam is reaching retirement age and shareholders are murmuring it can't happen soon enough. Particularly as he is the man who recruited the ill-fated group chief executive Bob Mendelsohn.
In fact, R&SA's former chief executive Richard Gamble has offered to step in through the rocky times. He is hoping to rally support from shareholders to become the comeback kid.
He was even reported as saying: "I'm prepared to help sort out the mess."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
