Primary Group is to begin a push into the professional indemnity (PI) market with the establishment of a new division, Prime Professions.
It is understood that Primary has poached staff from rival Alexander Forbes Professions (AFP).
Last month, Insurance Times revealed that Alexander Forbes had lost at least 10 staff from its professions divisions to a Primary Group company.
This week Alexander Forbes confirmed it had received resignations from 25 "senior and support" staff. It said it anticipated more resignation letters before the end of the week.
Primary Group refused to comment on whether it had poached staff from AFP.
Prime Professions will focus on solicitors, construction, insurance brokers, IFAs, international and volume business.
It has appointed Duncan Philpott to develop the business infrastructure and gain regulatory approval.
Alexander Forbes International Risk Services chairman John Percy Davis said the company remained committed to its PI division. He said its 160 staff were continuing to develop the service.
