Bermuda-based Primary Group has formed a US subsidiary to aid its US expansion plans.
Primary said it was anticipation future acquisitions with the formation of the new subsidiary, called Primary Group Incorporated (PGI).
Based in Annapolis, Maryland, PGI will operate solely in the US under president and chief executive Charles Norton-Smith.
At the same time, Primary announced other management appointments for the new subsidiary.
Former Heritage director Justin Tweedie has joined the company as senior vice president.
Tweedie will relocate to the US where he will have responsibility for the management and integration of acquisitions, including the development and integration of underwriting management and reporting systems.
He will also manage North American reinsurance and insurance relationships, said the company.
In addition, Shilpa Khushalani is to join PGI as vice president with responsibility for managing acquisition activities. Prior to her appointment Khushalani worked in the mergers and acquisitions department of ADP in New York.
