Former UK General chief Peter Hubbard joins Co-op Insurance
Co-op Insurance has hired former UK General chief executive Peter Hubbard as its new chairman.
Hubbard, who left UK General in February 2016, was chief executive of AXA UK between November 2001 and April 2008.
He has also served as a non-executive director at technology-driven broker QMetric Group, law firm Keoghs and broker Sure Thing.
Co-op Insurance is currently going through a rough patch. It reported a £15.5m operating loss in the first half of 2017, and its technology overhaul has hit trouble after technology giant IBM pulled out of the project.
Hubbard said: “I’m delighted to join The Co-op as chair of its insurance board at such an exciting and important time in its transformation journey.
“Co-op Insurance has a long and distinguished history, and we have the opportunity now to create and deliver a compelling Co-op Insurance for the future, one which meets the needs of millions of Co-op members and customers.”
Co-op chair Allan Leighton added: “Peter has a wealth of industry experience and insight and this will greatly assist our insurance business as it continues to deliver its business strategy and transformation programme.”
