Employment law and health & safety firm Peninsula is to expand its intermediary support division.

The company said it planned to recruit 50 new staff over the next 12 months, investing £500,000 in the scheme. The new team will be based in the company's Manchester office.

If the scheme is successful, Peninsula said it planned to create further jobs.

Peninsula head of corporate development Russell Guest said the company had piloted a joint working approach with about 300 UK brokers, generating revenue of £6m for Peninsula and over £600,000 for the intermediaries.

He said the company expected to see revenues of over £12m in the next 12 months from its dealings with intermediaries.

Intermediary referred business will represent over 60% of Peninsula's new client acquisition by the end of 2005, said Guest.
