Collins becomes national broking director
Oval has appointed Matthew Collins as its national broking director.
Collins, who became the group’s Eastern region broking director after its acquisition of Essex-based broker FMW in January, will also continue to fulfil that role.
He said: “I will work with the seven regions to implement our local business plans with insurers – but with a national broking overview strategy.”
He will also help develop new products and niche areas.
Howard Pepper, managing director of Oval Insurance Broking, added: “This has been a period of dramatic growth for Oval and I am confident that Matthew will ensure that we continue to grow and develop in a way that is both positive and beneficial to Oval, our clients and insurers.”
Last week, Oval chief executive Phillip Hodson admitted that the company could float within three years in an effort to grow its revenues beyond £200m.
It followed news that the broker had put its acquisition plans on hold for the summer due to inflated valuations and concerns over the sustainability of acquired businesses. Oval also released strong results for 2007, with turnover up 41% to £85m and underlying earnings rising 54% to £18m.
