Open GI has extended its web trading solutions for brokers by launching an online Quote and Buy solution for open market personal lines EDI products.
Quote and Buy allows brokers to sell motor, home, bike and commercial vehicle insurance, via their websites, subject to insurer agreement.
The pilot is running with a number of major brokers and a general release is planned for September or October.
Open GI said the solution, an extension of Open GI 's online quote engine e-Quotes, can be integrated to work with aggregator websites.
Simon Hughes, sales and marketing director at Open GI, said: "Brokers have been able to provide comparative online quotes from a panel of insurers using Open GI technology for some time now. Extending the technology to allow clients to purchase open market, personal lines EDI policies online is a huge step forward.
"It opens up a whole new distribution channel for the broker and helps improve client retention in a market where the pressure to win and retain customers is ever increasing."
