With awards season in the air, mystery blogger Sid draws up his list of contenders
As the Insurance Times Awards night approaches (1 December, if it’s not already in your diary), I thought I would award my own ‘Sids’ this year – and quite a year it has been.
Hyperbole of the Year
“We will demonstrate a new competitive dynamic”
Philippe Maso, a few weeks before he needed a dynamo for the bike he was told to get on (quel dommage)
The Peter Brady Award (old readers will remember him)
Finalists: David McMillan, Paul Geddes, Jon Greenwood, Patrick Smith, Stephen Lewis
The Winner: Stephen Lewis (who’s he?)
The ‘I Thought They Had Retired’ Award
Finalists: Andy Homer, Chris Hanks, Phillip Hodson, David Slade
The Winner: Andy Homer (give up, man)
The Alan Cleary Award for Award Ideas
The Winner: Alan Cleary (but a good egg)
The ‘I Sponsor What I Like Award’
Mark Hodges for the Aviva Premiership and the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and Aviva Norwich City sponsorship (he clearly hates football)
The ‘Who Is Sid?’ Award
Finalists: Andy Homer, Stuart Reid, Grant Ellis, Ellen Bennett, Alan Cleary, Paul Donaldson
The Winner: To be announced (none of the above)
