Norwich Union is underwriting a new online home insurance service from eInsurance Services.

The eHome Insurance service has been developed along similar lines to eInsurance's eHome, eBike, eCar and eVan policies.

Using the service, householders can manage their policies online. It offers £55,000 automatic contents cover and £5,000 cover for electrical equipment for homeworkers.

Jan Yost, product manager for eHome Insurance, said: “We have put together a very comprehensive package of cover at a very competitive cost and believe eHome will be very attractive to householders.

“Many people do not want to be bothered with telephoning call centres to make adjustments to their policy and no-one wants to be paying more than they need for their home insurance, so we expect eHome to make a big impact.”
