Norwich Union has transferred call centre jobs from India back to the UK.
According to reports, the insurer has listened to concerns from customers who prefer to deal with local call centre staff.
The Aviva-owned insurer has transferred 150 jobs back to the UK since 2004, including household claims handlers in call centres.
But Norwich Union affirmed its commitment to its Indian operations. A spokeswoman said: "We have announced that we will have around 7,800 roles in India by the end of 2007 and we are on target to achieve this number.
"We have moved around 150 roles back to the UK across household claims, credit hire and also some pensions work. We remain committed to our Indian operations and are proud of the operations we have built."
