Norwich Union today launched a free seven-day motor cover service for dealers, allowing customers to drive from the forecourt once a purchase has been made.
Under the ‘Driveaway' scheme, dealers provide customers with an offer leaflet explaining how they can take up the seven days' free comprehensive cover.
The customer then rings a call centre to initiate cover. The dealer receives a cover note via email, allowing them to tax the vehicle.
When the customer comes to collect the vehicle, the dealer gives them the cover note so they can drive off knowing they are fully covered.
The service is approved by vehicle information provider HPI, Norwich Union said.
Scott McNicol, general manager of Inchcape Vauxhall in Fareham, said: “As a dealer we are providing an additional service that incurs no extra administration and customers benefit from a hassle-free car buying experience.
“It also means we can arrange earlier delivery of a vehicle following a sale, helping our flow of stock."
