Growth in Fortis's non-motor portfolio has helped it to a 3% increase in total gross written premiums (GWP) for the third quarter, despite a fall in income from its core motor book.
Overall GWP for the quarter was reported as £453m, up from £442m in the same period last year.
In a year that has seen Fortis retain the lucrative Post Office travel contract and secure an affinity deal with Holiday Extras, GWP from the insurer's travel arm was £38.5m, a 42% year-on-year increase from £27.1m in the third quarter 2004.
Commercial lines contributed £42.3m, up 21% from the same period last year, while household showed a 6% year-on-year growth to £82.3m.
Only personal motor, Fortis's core business, saw a fall in GWP - from £295.7m to £288.4m.
