RBSI-owned commercial insurer seeks growth
NIG, the broker-only commercial insurer, has unveiled a new brand ahead of this week’s Biba conference and released details of a broker club, NIG First, for around 70 preferred partners.
NIG has had a new management team come into place over the past two years, led by managing director Jon Greenwood, who joined in May 2009.
He has since appointed his own top team, led by director of commercial underwriting Martin Hall and director of sales and distribution Dave Parry. The insurer exited the personal market in August 2010, to focus on commercial lines, where it has been aggressively seeking growth.
Two years of change
Greenwood said: “We’ve worked through a number of significant changes at NIG in the last two years and we believe that now is a perfect time to mark the closing of one chapter in NIG’s history and the beginning of a new one.
“We have spent two years rebuilding the organisation as a dedicated commercial insurer. Everything has been reviewed and refreshed from my own management team down to the way we deliver quotes to brokers.”
Bespoke club
Greenwood also outlined NIG First, a new club which NIG will be rolling out to selected brokers over the next six months.
He said that, unlike similar offerings from other insurers, NIG First did not have a size threshold as an entry requirement, and that each member broker would have a bespoke agreement with the insurer, depending on its needs.
