The broker stated it will ‘capitalise’ on an ‘immense opportunity’
London market wholesale insurance broker Evolin Broking has launched a new casualty division that will be spearheaded by three new hires.
Leading the casualty team is Kalani Settle-Rhodes, who has been appointed as head of casualty. She will report to Evolin managing director Chis Baulf.
Meanwhile, Shelly Leake will join as a senior broker, while Oliver Hutchins will take up the role of account executive – both will work under Settle-Rhodes.
Baulf said there was an “immense opportunity in the casualty market right now and bringing in this experienced team, led by Kalani, will allow us to capitalise on this”.
“Understanding and adapting to our clients’ needs is where Evolin stands out,” he added.
“I am thrilled to welcome Kalani, Shelly and Oliver to the team and I look forward to working with them as we build out our casualty offering.”
Experience
Settle-Rhodes worked as an international casualty broker at Bowring Marsh for over eight years.

Prior to that, she spent 14 years in underwriting at insurer Aviva, focusing on complex commercial and high net worth business.
She believes “casualty has the unique perspective of looking at the human effect and cost of any incident that may give rise to a claim”.
Meanwhile, Leake spent over six years in three roles at broker Marsh and has experience in broking, especially the casualty market.
Adding to that expertise is Hutchin’s 17 years of industry experience in both broking and underwriting roles.
He joins from Hugh J Boswell, where he was a broker development manager.
Prior to this, he was a commercial account handler at Marsh. He also spent more than nine years at Aviva mainly as an underwriter.
Settle-Rhode said: “I am always looking for the solution to how we can best protect a business, focusing on presenting clients as an entity that deserves consideration, regardless of appetite, volatility and general market bias.
“This is at the core of why Shelly, Oliver and I made the choice to join Evolin – it recognises the individuals that comprise any business, keeping them at the forefront of their broking.
“I look forward to working with Chris and the rest of the team.”
