‘I leave bursting with pride of what we have achieved,’ says ex-global head of insurance
Nigel Walsh has left his role as the global head of insurance at Google Cloud.
In a LinkedIn post yesterday (28 January 2025), Walsh announced that was departing the technology giant after four years.
He joined in 2021 as managing director of insurance in 2021, before being promoted to his most recent role in February 2024.
Walsh said: “After four fantastic years, the last three in New York, to what I can only describe as an adventure of a lifetime for [my wife] Emma, our kids and myself – it’s my time to embark on my next adventure.
“I leave bursting with pride of what we have achieved, our voice on the global insurance stage and a community of amazing Googler’s across the world passionate, like me – about making insurance lovable. I’ll always be cheering you on from the sidelines.”
Experience
Before joining Google Cloud, he was a partner at Deloitte, leading technology transformation initiatives.

Earlier in his career, he worked at accelerator Startupbootcamp as a mentor in October 2015. He was also the vice president and head of UK insurance at Capgemini, where he built and developed the company’s UK insurance operation.
Walsh was also shortlisted alongside seven other candidates for the Insurance Times Technology Champion of the Year 2023 award.
His next career move it yet to be confirmed.
“I’m super excited about what’s next,” he said.
