’I look forward to working closely with our board and the entire Everest team,’ says appointee

Underwriting group Everest has appointed Jim Williamson as its new president and chief executive.

Williamson is taking up the position after most recently serving as the acting chief executive.

Williamson said he wanted to “thank the board” for its confidence in his ability to lead “Everest through a pivotal time in the company’s evolution”.

He added: “Everest is uniquely positioned, with exceptional talent and a growing global franchise, to unlock future potential.

”I look forward to working closely with our board and the entire Everest team as we focus on delivering sustainable value for our shareholders, clients and colleagues.”

Experience

Williamson will bring two decades of experience to this new role, having held senior roles at The Hartford, Chubb and ACE.

He has also worked across the property and casualty industry, including in commercial, speciality and consumer business lines in the US and overseas.

He joined Everest in 2020, with executive vice president and group chief operating officer among roles he has held with the firm.

Joseph Taranto, chairman of Everest’s board of directors, said: “Over the past four years, Williamson has consistently demonstrated sound judgement and value creation at Everest, earning the respect of his colleagues and the board.

“Williamson’s extensive industry experience, deep knowledge of the company and outstanding performance make him the right person to lead the next chapter for Everest.”
