Insurance Times rounds up the biggest M&A stories from 22 to 25 April 2025

Starting off the week, Markel entered into an agreement to acquire marine focused MGA Meco Group.

Founded in 1974, Meco Group provides products and services to a range of global marine clients, including charterers and traders, shipowners and entities engaged in maritime operations and global supply chains.

Then, Alan Boswell Group (ABG) announced it had acquired East-Suffolk-based Andrew Thompson and Associates (AT&A).

Established in 2010, AT&A is a broker that specialises in commercial insurance. The deal will see its staff and premises be retained.

Following this, Admiral entered into an agreement to sell Elephant Insurance to global private investment firm JC Flowers.

Elephant Insurance is Admiral’s US motor business. It is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and offers customers car insurance.

Rounding off the week, JMG Group expanded in the UK through a trio of acquisitions made by three of its businesses – GS Group, Greenwood Moreland and Lighthouse Risk Services.

GS Group has acquired Scottish broker W K Insurance, Greenwood Moreland has purchased York-based UKI Direct and Lighthouse has made a swoop for Leeds-headquartered TSE Solutions.
