Insurance Times rounds up the biggest moves and promotions from 20 to 24 January 2025

Starting off the week, Arch Insurance International promoted Mike Bottle to the role of managing director for its UK regional division.

Bottle succeeds Steve Bashford, who has decided to retire as chief executive of the arm.

Then, Ian Donaldson stepped down as chief executive at Markerstudy Distribution after joining the firm through its merger with Atlanta.

Donaldson will now return to Ardonagh in a new role focused on building out the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities across its global platforms.

Following this, Hiscox revealed that Nicola Holmes will be leaving the insurer for a new role at an unnamed broker.

Holmes has spent the last 18 years at Hiscox, with her having joined the firm in 2007 as a scheme analyst.

After that, Allianz appointed Phuong Ly as its new commercial managing director for the UK.

His appointment comes after former UK commercial managing director Nadia Cote decided to depart the insurer for RSA.

Rounding off the week, Andy Holmes was appointed as CFC’s new group capacity director as part of a restructure.

Holmes was most recently the chief executive for CFC Underwriting, a role he took up in January 2024 after serving as chief underwriting officer for 21 years.
