Insurance Times rounds up the biggest appointments and promotions from 6 to 10 January 2025
Starting off the week, USQ Risk announced that its UK chief executive David Hall had retired.
Hall, who has led the MGA’s UK operations since 2021, stepped down from his role at the MGA at the end of 2024.
He is retiring after spending three decades working in the insurance industry.
Then, Euna Underwriting appointed Ross Dingwall as its new chief executive.
He brings more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to Euna, including stints with both insurer Hiscox and broker Partners&.
Following this, Hiscox announced that Shali Vasudeva had returned to the insurer as its new group chief operations and technology officer.
Vasudeva, who left the insurer in 2019 to join Axa, will help lead large-scale transformation projects and drive technological innovation in her new role.
After that, Direct Line Group (DLG) confirmed three new appointments to its executive committee after Aviva agreed to purchase the insurer.
The insurer said Maz Bown, who was appointed chief risk officer in December 2024, will join the board, as well as Angela Yotov and Jane Storm.
This week also saw Lloyd’s of London announce that John Neal will be stepping down from his role as chief executive.
In a statement, the marketplace said that Neal would be departing to take up a new major role at Aon.
Neal became Lloyd’s chief executive in 2018 and has led the strategic direction of the marketplace.
Finally, Ecclesiastical appointed James Medlicott as its new UK casualty director.
Medlicott, who is set to join in March 2025, will be responsible for helping the insurer expand its casualty portfolio over the coming years.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
