Insurance Times rounds up the biggest appointments, promotions and hires from 19 to 23 August 2024
Starting off the week, Minster Law appointed Stuart Hanley as its new director of legal practice.
In his new role, Hanley will be responsible for helping insurer’s operate in the current legislative and regulatory environment.
Then, insurance broker Lycetts appointed Ian Barclay as its new chief executive.
Barclay will succeed Charles Foster, who is retiring after seven years as the firm’s top boss.
Following this, insurer Markel said it had opened a new office in Leeds as it looks to increase its investment in the city.
The office will be based in City Square House, which offers 138,859 sq ft of space within Leeds’ commercial business district.
And then, Lloyd’s chief operating officer Bob James was appointed as the new chief executive at Velonetic.
James succeeds Chris Halbard, who is leaving the firm after spending a year and five months as the top boss.
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
