’Together, we are well-positioned to further support clients across the globe,’ says director
Broker Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has acquired specialist schemes broker Strategic Insurance Services Limited (SISL) in its first acquisition since announcing new investment from private equity partners Warburg Pincus and Temasek last month (May 2024).
Founded in 1997 and based in West Sussex, SISL offers specialised schemes.
In a statement, SRG noted SISL’s strong relationships with insurers, brokers and financial services clients throughout Europe and explained that the move demonstrated its “strategic focus” on expanding its range of specialisms.
SRG chief executive Warren Downey said: ”This acquisition not only enables us to support SISL in developing their current proposition, but also expand their capability further across international markets.
”The cultural fit between our two organisations is exceptional and we see significant opportunities for our people to grow and thrive together.”
When news of SRG’s new investment was announced last month, Downey told Insurance Times that SRG was “going through the gears” in terms of building the broker that he started alongside group deputy chief executive officer Lee Anderson in September 2019.
He added: ”September 2019 to January 2024 is chapter one of SRG – and we’re just starting chapter two.”
Tremendous opportunities
Commenting on the acquisition, SISL director Christian Freer said: “We have known Downey and the SRG team for some time and are thrilled to now be joining SRG.

“Both our firms share the same cultural values and I look forward to working in an environment where our teams can collaborate and excel.
“This partnership opens up tremendous opportunities for our team, allowing us to leverage SRG’s resources and expertise to drive the growth of our business.
“Together, we are well-positioned to further support clients across the globe with our specialist insurance products and solutions.”
Downey added: “We are excited to welcome SISL to SRG. The SISL team has profound expertise in creating and delivering specialist schemes, which aligns perfectly with our strategic vision.”
