’As a Lloyd’s coverholder, we are strategically positioned to further elevate the scope and quality of our services,’ says chief executive

Specialist marine managing general agent (MGA) Amphitrite Underwriting London has received coverholder approval from Lloyd’s.

A coverholder is a firm authorised to enter into a contract of insurance on behalf of a Lloyd’s syndicate.

It means that Amphitrite will now be able to underwrite and manage insurance policies on the authority of Lloyd’s.

Konstantinos Tampakakis, chief executive at Amphitrite, said: “The global recognition of the Lloyd’s brand, coupled with its unmatched licensing capabilities, further augments Amphitrite’s overall value proposition and underscores our ongoing commitment to sustainable growth and diversification.”

Expansion plan

The MGA explained that coverholder status would help expand its product offerings and improve access to capital.

In turn, the firm said it was ready to capitalise on emerging market opportunities within specialist marine sectors.

Tampakakis added: “As a Lloyd’s coverholder, we are strategically positioned to further elevate the scope and quality of our services, while strengthening our relationships with our clients and distribution partners in London and internationally.”
