Specialty reinsurer SiriusPoint has promoted Nestor Lopez to the role of chief technology officer, according to a statement released today (26 May 2023).
In his new position, Lopez, who joined the company in 2022 as chief information officer, will be responsible for building out SiriusPoint’s data capabilities.
The reinsurer said he would also develop and maintain an “effective and stable” operating platform for the business.
He will report to SiriusPoint chief executive Scott Egan.
Egan said: “The quality and accessibility of our data is central to SiriusPoint’s strategy and best-in-class aspirations.
”I look forward to continuing to work with Nestor as we further develop our data and tech capabilities.
“It is a pleasure to announce his promotion and to recognise the talent we have at SiriusPoint.”
Stepping down
Prior to SiriusPoint, Lopez served as chief information officer at Coaction Specialty Insurance – formerly known as ProSight Specialty Insurance – and also worked in several leadership roles for various other companies.

This included CNA Insurance, the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Allianz Group and General Electric.
His promotion will see him replace Darryl Siry, who will leave SiriusPoint at the end of June 2023.
Egan said: “Siry leaves with our best wishes for the future.
”The IT function and team have thrived under his leadership and he has been a valuable and active member of the executive leadership team.”
