Commercial Express has made a double swoop on insurer RSA to expand its team of underwriters.
The MGA said it had appointed Andy Jones as head of underwriting and Joanne Caton as underwriting manager.
Together, they will lead the development of Commercial Express’ underwriting team.
They will prioritise binders, compliance, and product governance as part of the firm’s 2025 strategy.
Caton will join the firm on 3 February 2025, while Jones will take up his new position 15 days later.
Founder and managing director at Commercial Express Duncan Pritchard said: “We are pleased to welcome Caton and Jones to the team.
“I expect them to play a key role in our ambition to grow the business and achieve £50m in gross written premium (GWP) within the next 18 months.”
Experience
Jones has spent the last 10 years at RSA, with him most recently working as the business project lead for commercial lines.

Other roles he has held with the insurer include regional underwriting manager and sales manager.
Meanwhile, Caton was most recently the head office senior property and liability underwriter at RSA.
She joined from NIG, which was acquired by RSA in September 2023.
Other roles she as held include commercial digital senior technical and dynamic underwriter at Ageas UK, as well as the regional development manager at Towergate Insurance.
Pritchard said: “Their impact will be instrumental as we continue to drive the business forward in an exciting new direction.”
His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
