’This is a transformational moment for RSA,’ says chief executive
RSA has announced a new commercial lines leadership team ahead of Lee Mooney’s departure from the insurer.
Mooney, who has served as the firm’s commercial lines managing director since 2021, will step down from his position in May 2024.
He will be succeeded by Sonya Bryson, who is currently commercial managing director of NIG and commercial managing director at Direct Line Group (DLG).
RSA agreed a deal to acquire DLG’s commercial lines operations – including the NIG and FarmWeb brands – in September last year.
The new commercial team will lead the combined business and report to Bryson.
They include Steve Scott, Steve Hedge, Tovah Grosscurth, David Enoch and Rob Flynn.
Ken Norgrove, chief executive of RSA, said: “This is a transformational moment for RSA as we bring together the best of RSA and NIG to create a focused commercial lines business that’s market leading for broker service, responsiveness and profitable growth.”

As part of the move, Scott, who is currently director of broker markets at NIG, will become the regional director responsible for mid-market and regionally traded business.

Meanwhile, Flynn will become commercial lines chief transformation director, while Enoch will move into the position of distribution and proposition director.
Hedge remains as delegated director responsible for schemes and delegated business.
“I’m confident under Sonya’s leadership that we have the right structure and senior team in place to drive the business to a position of outperformance, as the leading general insurer in the UK market, known for our exceptional broker service and leading technical capabilities,” Norgrove said.
