‘This is the first of a number of potential developments which we anticipate completing this year,’ says managing director
Loss adjusting and claims solutions group QuestGates has acquired Ramsay McMichael Consulting, a statement released yesterday (12 July 2023) revealed.
Glasgow-based Ramsay McMichael is a property consultancy that specalises in several sectors, including building surveying, architecture and civil and structural engineering.
The acquisition will see the firm become part of the wider QuestGates group, but will continue to operate under its brand as part of the move.
Chris Hall, managing director of QuestGates, said the deal was a “significant step towards our goal to be the go-to name for insurance-led professional building services”.
“QuestGates has grown both organically and by acquisition since incorporation 20 years ago and this is the first of a number of potential developments which we anticipate completing this year,” he said.
“Ramsay McMichael is a perfect fit for QuestGates’ ever-growing team of building experts and combines two firms of similar culture, with complementary strengths and sector expertise.”
’New opportunities’
The acquisition, which has been completed without the need for external funding, compliments QuestGates’ existing surveying division after the firm bought Structural Surveys and Design in May 2022.

Ramsay McMichael founding directors Stuart McMichael and Gavin Ramsay said joining QuestGates will provide “new opportunities for our team” and enhance the business’ commercial surveying offering across the UK.
As part of this, the firm is also looking to expand its geographical reach through recruitment.
“We’re extremely proud of the business and the reputation we have built up over the past 20 years and are pleased to be joining QuestGates who share our service ethos and very similar values,” they added.
“We are very excited about what this move will mean for our clients and the opportunities it will bring to our team.”
Hall added: ”We are pleased to welcome Stuart, Gavin and their team on board as we continue to expand our rapidly growing surveying services proposition.”
