’I have no doubt that it will help us to write better business more efficiently,’ says founder and managing director
Specialist insurance broker Principal Insurance has signed a new agreement to access data predicting consumer behaviour from Percayso Inform.
A statement released yesterday (18 January 2024) explained the move would allow Principal Insurance to predict potential policyholders more likely to cancel mid-term.
In turn, this will allow the firm to better determine the terms offered or whether to decline the risk altogether.
“We were impressed with the ease of use of this new tool that we will access via the Percayso platform, which allows us to set our own rules and quickly adapt them to changing market conditions and business strategy,” said founder and managing director Dave Bowcock.
“I have no doubt that it will help us to write better business more efficiently.”
Foresight
Percayso is able to obtain data on consumer behaviour through the Foresight platform, which was launched in May 2022 by Close Brothers Premium Finance (CBPF).

The two firms began working with each other in 2023, with them looking to make it easier for personal lines brokers to access the tool.
In its new deal with Principal Insurance, Percayso will help the business initially use consumer behaviour data at the point of quote across its private car and commercial vehicle books.
David Kelly, commercial director of Percayso, said: “Given the current economic environment, brokers are up against it as customers face a tighter squeeze on their household budget.
“Having greater insight about a customer’s likelihood of cancelling a policy mid-term can better inform their pricing strategy and appetite for individual risks.. We look forward to developing our relationship further over the coming months.”
