’This is a watershed moment in UK pet insurance,’ says chief executive
Pet wearables provider Tractive has launched its first insurance product in partnership with Verisk-owned software house Ignite and insurer Covèa.
Tractive’s pet cover product will be available to cat and dog owners in the UK.
Customers will be able to manage their insurance policies online and make mid-term adjustments or renewals on the Ignite platform.
Toby MacLachlan, chief executive at Ignite, said: “Ignite often does projects replacing legacy policy administration systems, so it’s been really fun for our team to focus on something completely new.

Fascinating learnings
Biba member Tractive also specialises in pet wearables that use GPS technology to track a cat or dog’s whereabouts.

Tractive’s pet cover policy provides comprehensive lifetime insurance for pet owners with up to £9,000 of vet fees covered per year.
It also covers vet fees for accidents or illness, dental treatment and third-party cover of up to the amount of £2m for dog owners.
Tractive chief executive Michael Hurnaus said: “It’s been an exciting journey launching this product with the help of Ignite’s technology and Covéa’s underwriting experience.”
Tractive has one million active subscribers globally.
