’For years, I’ve been campaigning passionately across global insurance to lean into technology,’ Walsh says
Nigel Walsh has become Google Cloud’s new head of global insurance.
Walsh, who had previously been Google’s managing director of insurance for North America, took up his new role in February, according to his LinkedIn page.
It came as Admiral announced that it had chosen Google Cloud as a strategic partner to help develop customer experiences in the UK.
Under the agreement terms, the insurer’s core insurance operations, policy administration and digital systems will be powered by Google Cloud.
During a Guidewire roundtable on 28 June 2022, Matthew Grant, chief executive of InsTech London, told Insurance Times that with Google Cloud, ”the key is to sell more hosting to insurance companies”.
Walsh previously told Insurance Times that he was “looking forward to continuing the mission to make insurance lovalble”.
”For years, I’ve been campaigning passionately across global insurance to lean into technology, whether it’s a core system transformation, partnering with the latest insurtech or more recently, what impact AI (artificial intelligence) can have for all participants involved, most importantly the customer,” he added.

Walsh is a specialist in insurtech and disruptive technology.
