The transaction aims to enhance the firms’ product offering and overall distribution, growing its combined share of the European football market
Specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has acquired Henner Sports, part of Henner Group.
Established in 2000 and based in Paris, Henner Sports is a French reinsurance broker specialising in the sports sector. It also operates as a delegated underwriting agent for several of its partner carriers.
Its client base is focused on high profile, professional athletes and sports organisations, including the French national basketball team and the majority of the French international football players.
Other sports covered by the broker include cycling and rugby.
Miller chief executive Greg Collins said the acquisition aims to assist the business’ strategic aspirations to expand its footprint in Europe.
He continued: “In Henner Sports, we recognised a strong fit for Miller’s approach and culture, with its rapid growth underpinned by exceptional service from a practitioner led team, a number of whom are former professional footballers.
“We look forward to welcoming the Henner Sports team to Miller and supporting their growth ambitions.”
Strategic goals
Miller’s joint head of special risks James Hands added that acquiring Henner Sports will provide the broker with the opportunity to grow its share of the European football market over the next five years.
Didier Loiseau, directeur général at Henner Sport, said: “We are delighted to join Miller. [Its] commitment to a client led approach and the strength of [its] existing sports team makes [the broker] a natural fit for us.
“We have significant ambitions for our next phase of growth, including establishing a greater international presence and a broader product offering.
“In Miller, we are pleased to have found a partner that can help us achieve these ambitions while sharing our belief in the importance of specialism and service excellence.”
Miller’s current sports professionals offering includes personal accident cover, which aims to provide athletes with long-term financial protection in the event of a career ending injury.
