‘Copeland has an accomplished financial background with considerable experience in the Bermuda multiline (re)insurance industry, as well as in the investment sector’, says managing partner
MGA Helix Underwriting Partners has appointed Kevin Copeland as its new chief financial officer (CFO) in a move designed to help expand its operations in the UK and US.
Copeland, who has over 25 years of experience in the reinsurance, insurance and investment industries, will join Helix’s executive management team.
Claude Lefebvre, managing partner at Helix, said: “He will be an invaluable asset to Helix as we execute on our short term priorities and longer term strategic objectives. I am delighted to welcome Copeland to Helix and look forward to working with him.”
US and UK expansion
Before joining Helix, Copeland was CFO at Our Kettle, a property insurer where he will remain senior advisor and director of its Bermuda entities.
He also previously served as senior vice president of finance and chief investment officer at James River Group Holdings. He has held CFO and chief operating officer roles at various Bermuda-based (re)insurance companies.

“Helix has built a solid foundation for its business that is well-positioned for continued growth and success. I look forward to working closely with the team as we continue to drive the company’s strategic vision forward,” said Copeland.
Helix is particularly focused on expanding its operations both geographically and organically, with the US and UK markets as areas of focus.
Nigel Mortimer, another managing partner at Helix, added: “I’ve had the opportunity to work with Copeland on several occasions during my career and I am very excited that we will now get the benefit of his deep knowledge and expertise at Helix, particularly as we are growing organically and geographically.”
