’This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our mission to deliver tailored insurance solutions,’ says head
Managing general agent (MGA) Focus Insurance has teamed up with Markel to launch a new construction binder.
The Wokingham-based MGA explained that the binder will offer a “one-stop shop” solution for all core covers required by construction trades under a single policy.
This includes EL, PL, CAR and PI policies, but within a short period this will expand to include a full suite of products.
This includes property damage and BI, portable property, money and personal assault, goods in transit, personal accident, directors and officers liability and entity defence.
Martin Parker, head of construction underwriting at Markel, said: “We’re delighted with our new partnership with Focus, a leading MGA in the UK construction insurance market.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our mission to deliver tailored insurance solutions that meet the needs of the construction industry.”
’Major step’
The facility will target a range of construction trades, including builders, electrical contractors, HVAC engineers, painters, plasterers, shopfitters, solar panel installers, plumbers and stone masons.

They will also have access to a business support package, which can be accessed via the telephone at any time.
Toby Catlin, director at Focus, called the facility “a major step forward for our brokers and our business”.
“We are really looking forward to working with Markel on a product that we are so proud to be able to present to our broker panel,” he added.
”It solves a wide range of problems for our brokers and their clients, with the ability to roll a number of key covers into a single, easy to manage policy, flexible wordings and a competitive range of benefits.”
